Senate Ratifies Emergency Declaration




The emergency declaration on Tuesday by President Jonathan has received the approval of the senate. The declaration was unanimously approved by the 100 members present at a session of the whole house today.
Two thirds of both the members of the Senate and House of Representatives are required to give the State of emergency declaration full legal backing. The House of Representatives is yet to ratify the emergency declaration.
A State of Emergency was declared on Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states by the President in a televised broadcast last Tuesday.
