EMERGENCY DECLARATION: Making a Case for Kano – Israel M.A

The declaration  by  President  Jonathan of a State of Emergency on the ‘homes’ of the so far intractable terror group – Boko Haram, is probably the boldest decision of his administration. The January one removal of subsidy was anything but bold, it was not only a betrayal of trust on the part of the President but an insult on the sensibilities of the poverty stricken and highly unsubsidized Nigerians.

An African ‘Lady’ - By Israel M.A

She’s black. But, despises the black tradition and culture.
She loves the white man’s way;
Moral decadence in modern western society excites her.
The way of the light skinned man seems perfect;
Moral bankruptcy is not an issue.
African culture is overbearing. It fetters the modern woman.
A culture that places a woman below a man and limits her freedom is outdated,
 And thus, be discarded.
After all, she’s a Christian. A modern Christian!
She’s answerable to Christ, not tradition.
Reading the bible or praying is not a priority;
After all, God is only interested in the heart.
You dare not call her a woman. That will surely infuriate her.
She’s a lady!

I STILL GBADUN NIGERIA – By Israel M.A

Despite the fact that I went to bed on an empty stomach yester night; well, not that empty, I took bread and akara and a lot of water. I still gbadun Nigeria.
Regardless of the lackluster leadership of the president, the ever increasing price of kerosene and the incessant strikes in our universities; well, just frustrated that I may not be able to resume camp this November, thanks to ASUU, NASUU, FUTASU and JONASU; I still gbadun Nigeria.

Graduation and the Fear of Unemployment - By Israel M.A

             Based on technicalities, I can say with all sense of pride that I’m a Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) CERTIFIED GRADUATE! I and most of my course mates dropped the undergraduate gown and banished its pen to a life imprisonment. According to my very impactful lecturer, engr. Umeh, we became colleagues with our teachers. A journey of 5years (6years for some of us that got in through pre-degree programme) came to joyous end yesterday. We became graduates, unofficially though, considering the fact that we are yet to conclude and defend our projects.

Apology To Mr. President - By Israel M.A

          In respect of my earlier vitriolic attack on your lackluster leadership, I'll like to render my unreserved apology to you and your hue, and also to the entire tactless and shoe licking members of your ineffective cabinet. I didn't know that you trekked barefooted to school, and more importantly, that you were once a member of the Nigerian masses (poverty stricken Nigerians).

A Letter to Mr. President - M.A Israel

Mr. President Sir! I'm writing to inform you of my frustration. Few minutes ago, Jos was in the news again, a suicide bomber attacked a church. I'm yet to hear or listen to your usual song "perpetrators will be brought to book"
